Glass has been my canvas for artistic expression for almost 20 years. But you could say the love story began, when I was a small child. I spent hours collecting the mineral mica from a boulder at the edge of the woods. It was translucent, reflected light and shimmered! What more could a kid ask for? It was a definite precursor to the glass medium I use today!
Another fun fact about me is that I was moving on the day I was born-on July 4th! Very patriotic I know! But my parents were immigrants hailing from Norway and England. My three siblings and I moved many times in the course of our childhoods. I was born in Concord, MA, but also lived in Peru, Puerto Rico, Norway, Germany and upstate New York. The attraction of many of these places was their radio antennae, as my father was a radio astronomer. Traveling could be fun, but changing schools frequently, was decidedly not.! I found solace in art and nature.
